Jon McDowall —

Kia ora koutou

Lord, as we continue our journey through the Lenten period, we ask you to guide us in all that we say and do. Guide us to find those on the periphery who need our time, our help. Give us the courage to act for them.

A rich part of St Bede’s history is our Boarding School. We pride ourselves on being a true Boarding School rather than a school with a Hostel and we commence this year at 99% capacity with 137 students in residence.

Our Boarding community adds immense value, culture and diversity to our wider school community. Our Boarding students come from far and wide, spanning the length and width of the South Island, as well as a number of students from the North Island, Chatham Islands as well as across the Pacific and Asia.

This week the Boarding School has been busy with the commencement of their Lenten Challenge; 40km in 40 days, as well as their first Tribe Night, which consisted of an American Diner themed dinner, Mr Whippy Truck and the annual swimming sports between the four Tribes.

Our annual Boarding Open Day is 24 March from 10.00am to 12.00pm. Enrolments for Boarding Spaces are now open with the first round of offers going out soon after term two commences. As we are at capacity, I do encourage you or anyone you may know who is considering a boarding position, to complete enrolment prior to the end of term one to avoid missing out.

All the best to those representing our College over the weekend.

Ngā mihi nui
