Caritas Leadership Day

Caritas NZ held a leadership day for students in the Christchurch Diocese on Wednesday, 7 March. This provided students with an excellent opportunity to come together with their peers from our diocesan Catholic schools to develop a greater awareness of issues of Justice & Peace in our world today.

The day comprised of a number of sessions which were thoughtfully run by the Caritas team and gave the students a chance to understand how privileged they are to live in such a safe country such as New Zealand and to also be aware of the struggles that many people face to even achieve a basic level of economic and social security in our world. Places such as Timor -Leste and Syria were discussed and also Poverty in New Zealand and its effects on the most vulnerable.

The students were given plenty of opportunities to develop critical skills and had a lot of fun in the process.

Well done to our St Bede’s students from our own SERVO (service and Volunteering ) group who attended for their positive and thoughtful participation on the day.
