St Bede's Old Boy joins world renowned New Zealand Army Band
Massive congratulations go out to St Bede's College Old Boy, Jean-Luc Pitcaithly, now Private Jean-Luc Pitcaithly as he joins the world renowned New Zealand Army Band on Cornet!
Following on from his time at St Bede's, Jean-Luc completed a Bachelor of Music through the Ara Music programme at the Ara Institute of Canterbury. Almost immediately after this he went into his audition and fitness testing for the New Zealand Army Band.
Jean-Luc regularly performs in various settings around New Zealand as a cornet player. He is a member of Woolston Brass and has also performed with the National Youth Brass Band of New Zealand.
Now as he joins the New Zealand Army Band he will taking to the international stage as they represent Aotearoa at the Basel Military Tattoo in Switzerland in July! Internationally, the New Zealand Army Band has gained recognition as one of the finest marching bands in the world.
The primary role of the New Zealand Army Band is to perform at military and state occasions and fulfil its role as the New Zealand Army's foremost public relations unit. They also regularly tour both New Zealand and overseas. Private Jean-Luc has already joined them for their first performance of the year, Forces in the Park in Trentham.
