An update and information...

Prestons Road closed one-way (westbound)

Prestons Road, between Grimseys Road and 171 Prestons Road, will be closed to westbound traffic from Wednesday 17 June till Wednesday 15 July so we can tie the new bridge into the existing road.

The suggested diversion for westbound traffic is via Hawkins Road, Radcliffe Road and Main North Road. Please expect up to five minutes delay.

Cyclists can either take the diversion or dismount and walk on the footpath passed the Prestons Road lane closure.

Eastbound traffic will switch over onto the new bridge on Wednesday 1 July but the westbound closure will remain until Wednesday 15 July.

Prestons Road residents, between Grimseys Road and 171 Prestons Road (including Burlington Village), will have pedestrian and vehicle access to their homes at all times. Vehicle access will be eastbound only (left-in left-out).

QEII/Innes Roundabout sealing at night

Most of the new kerbs are in place at the QEII/Innes Roundabout and now it’s time to resurface the road.

From Sunday night 14 June, we will be milling and asphalting for several nights. This work will be noisy but as this intersection is so busy, we have no choice but to work at night.

Paving work is planned on: Sunday 14, Monday 15, Wednesday 17, Thursday 18 and Sunday 28, Monday 29, Tuesday 30 June and Wednesday 1, Thursday 2 and Sunday 5 July.

We need dry weather for sealing so bad weather will extend this work.

On 21 June we will be finishing the last section of kerbs and drainage on the island.

During the night work, the roundabout will be closed to westbound traffic, QEII Drive eastbound traffic can drive straight through on the slip lane but there will be no turn right at the roundabout to go to Innes Road.

Information on detours and more is available here.

Stop/Go on Guthries Road for two weeks

From Monday 8 June, Stop/Go traffic signals will manage traffic on Guthries Road near the old Factory Road intersection.
We will be working in this area for two weeks while we remove this old intersection and finish the edge of the motorway.
The Stop/Go signal lights are on a timer and are vehicle activated. Please allow a few minutes extra time for your travel in this area.

QEII surfacing between Innes and Philpotts Roads

We are ready to chipseal the new westbound lanes on QEII Drive between Philpotts Road and Innes Road roundabout.

Weather permitting, we will do this from Tuesday 9 June till Thursday 11 June.

The final road surface will be asphalt but this will not be applied until the road has been used for about a year.

We expect to have traffic on the new westbound lanes by the end of July.

More info for residents and anyone needing to access this area here.

Winters Road East to re-open

From early morning Wednesday 14 June, the original entry point to the Winters Road cul-de-sac east of the new motorway, that gives access to our site office, is open again, left in and out only.

(We are sorry, we would have liked to open Winters Road on the 3rd of June, however work took a little bit longer than expected)

Thank you for your cooperation

We have very much appreciated your patience as we have been working on local roads in the area. Our plan is to have, Radcliffe, Belfast, Guthries, Philpotts, Winters, Hills, Innes and Cranford finished and open to all traffic by early September.

No more road cones!

The new CNC motorway is on track to be completed in December this year.
