Comments about today's game (English & 和文）

Riri: Today, in our game that we won 66-5, I played fullback for the first time ever. I knew that one of my roles at fullback was to make tackles as the last line of defence, and I think I was able to do that, stopping several large ball-carriers who were looming down on me. In the first half, I didn’t really get involved in our attack, but in the second half I made a point of being louder and clearer in my communication and, as a result, I was able to play a part in one of our tries.

I took lots out of things to work on out of today’s game and playing a new position was a great source of confidence for me. Had I been in Japan and told to play an unfamiliar position I probably would have said I couldn’t do it, but here I felt that I had nothing to lose, so I gave it a go. I know that this will help build my confidence as a player.”

Hitomi: “In today’s game, I managed to do something that led to a try and also had the opportunity to carry the ball once. I think that I was able to apply what I had learned in our skill sessions. My tackling is something that I still to need to work on. From now in our skill sessions and games, I will do my best to become able to make tackles on much larger players using my shoulder.”

Fernanda: “I very much like the dynamic of the group. Had a great day, and much fun with these strong girls. I hope I can keep up with them!”

Riri: 「今日は初めてのポジションであるフルバックでフル出場させてもらい66対5で勝つことができました。 ディフェンスではフルバックの役目であるタックルで大きい相手でしたがたくさん止めることができました。 アタックでは前半あまりボールに触られずにいましたが、後半では声を出してボールをもらいパスできたことでトライに繋がる時もありました。 この1試合でたくさんの課題点が見つかり、新しいポジションを経験することで自分の自信にも繋がったいい試合になりました。日本にいた時は違うポジションをしろと言われたら出来ないと言ってたと思います。 ここにきて失敗してもいいから挑戦するという気持ちが出て、新しいポジションをすることでポジションの幅も広がり自信にも繋がってよかったです。」

Hitomi: 「今日の試合では、トライに繋がるようなプレーが出来たり、少し、キャリーが出来たりと、セッションで学んだことを活かすことができたと感じでいます。 大きな課題に、タックルがありますが、これからのセッションや、これからの経験で、大きな相手に肩からタックルすることができるように、頑張ります。」

Fernanda: 「クライストチャーチクラブの女子チームの雰囲気が良くて、好きです。今日、この強い女子たちと一緒に過ごした１日はとても楽しかったです。彼女たちについていけるよう頑張ります。」
