Mrs Clare Kissick —

Information and Updates.

WATER POLO

Congratulation to the Senior A Water Polo team who finished in 8th place at the National Tournament in Auckland at the start of the holidays. Last year they finished 14th so this is a great improvement and also taking into consideration how tough it is to compete against North Island schools where they have their own covered water polo pools and practice every day!

Well done boys.

RUGBY

Congratulations to the 1st XV who started their season with a win over St Pat’s Town in Wellington and Frances Douglas in New Plymouth in their short North Island Tour.

They start the UC competition this Saturday playing Timaru Boys’ High School in Timaru.

FOOTBALL

The 1st XI started their competition last night with a great game against Papanui High School, but were unluckily and came away with a 2 to 3 loss.

HOCKEY

The 1st XI start their competition this Friday night playing Burnside High School at Nga Puna Wai Hockey complex – good luck to the team.

ANZAC Tournament

The 1st XI Hockey squad played in the annual ANZAC tournament held in Timaru during the holidays. They had 4 wins and a draw.

They drew with Otago Boys’ High School 2 all. Won against Shirley Boys’ High School 11 to 1, Timaru Boys’ High School 2 to 1, John McGlason 1 to 0 and finished with a win against Burnside High School 2 to 1.

KARATE

Congratulations to Jake Dunn, Year 9, who competed in the New Zealand Karate Open held in Christchurch. Having just recovered from a broken foot and unable to train for 8 weeks, he did an outstanding job at competing in the finals, placing silver against another NZ representative.

SWIMMING

Congratulations to Ollie Lutton who was placed 5th in the 200m, 8th in the 100m, and 12th in 50m (all in backstroke), at the Nationals in Wellington over the holidays.
