In Pictures: First XV versus St Thomas's

Kurt Paterson —

St Bede’s vs St Thomas’s is always a highlight fixture on the calendar and this year's edition didn’t disappoint.

The game was a fiercely physical battle which literally came down to the final whistle, with St Thomas’s scoring a last-minute try.

A great showcase of schoolboy rugby and school spirit on display with a large number of supporters on both sides trying to give their side an edge through a variety of boisterous chants.

While it wasn’t the result St Bede’s was hoping for, losing 22-20, plenty of positives can be taken from the match as we move forward with our season.

It was great to see members of our 1962 and 1963 First and Second XVs at the game. These Old Boys were enjoying a reunion that included watching the game at their old stomping ground.

Lord Fred Sevele, former Prime Minister of Tonga and member of the St Bede's First XV in 1963, was among the guests.
