Mr Justin Boyle —

Greetings from St Bede’s College.

Juniors continue classes and so do NCEA exams for seniors.

Planning for Year 9 Big Days Out and the Year 10 Camps continue, which is something that both the staff and the boys look forward to prior to school ending for the year. The opportunity for staff and boys to interact out of the classroom builds relationships and is good for the community in general.

Summer sport continues. One of the growing sports in the College is water polo, and it is good to see our Junior A Team competing well in the South Island Secondary Schools' Junior Tournament this week. The junior cricketers will endeavor to make progress in the NZCT Championship to qualify for nationals early next year, and the 1st XI Cricket Team have a chance to make the one-day final of the local competition this month as well. A highlight of their campaign this term was their first victory against CBHS since 2015.

The staff appreciated the teacher-only days last week and reviews of our pastoral, junior curriculum and special character systems will mean general improvements in most areas of the College.

We look forward to seeing our Year 9 and 10 students and their parents at the Junior Conference Day which will take place next Friday, 29 November.

Until next week,

JG Boyle
