Mrs Clare Kissick —

Information and updates

WINTER SPORT

We are into the business end of winter sport with a lot of St Bede’s College teams, heading into semi-final, or final games on Friday night for basketball and hockey, and rugby on Saturday.

  • Hockey teams have done really well this season and our 1st XI play Christchurch Boys' High School in the semi final tonight at 5.10pm at Nag Puna Wai 1. If you can get there to watch the game tonight,  I am sure they would appreciate your support.
  • Rugby 1st XV is also playing Christchurch Boys High School here at St Bede’s on Saturday at 2.45pm in the semi-final of the UC Cup.
  • Football 1st XI have reached the plate final in the Premier Competition - the first time in a few years since we have finished this high up in the competition. They play Lincoln High School on Wednesday at 5.00pm at English Park.

A big thank you to all those parents that have helped out with sport over the last two terms. Without your valuable support the College would not be able to put 55 teams out on the sports fields each week during those two terms.

HOCKEY 1ST XI

A huge congratulations go to the Hockey 1st XI boys and their coaches and managers. The team finished top of their round robin competition and have their name on the Connetics Sheild for this year, which has not been done for a very long time. They have had excellent wins over Christ's College, St Andrew's College and Christchurch Boys’ High School, with a very exciting win over Timaru Boys’ High School to achieve their winning round robin.

They now face the semi final this Friday night playing Christchurch Boys’ High School at 5.10pm at Naga Puna Wai number 2 – they would love to have plenty of support at their game tonight.

ROWING

The College is very excited to announce our new Head Coach for Rowing for 2019/20 season. We are pleased to have Dale Mahr, who has rowed and coached for New Zealand Rowing and has a wide range of experience and skills that he will bring to the St Bede’s College Rowing.

If your son is thinking about rowing this year and beyond we would like him to come to the old Art room on Monday at lunchtime and be introduced to Dale, who will outline the season. Pizza will be provided.

A parents' meeting date will be advised later next week.
