Cooper Moore claims Australian Junior Amateur title
The Year 12 student then went on to dominate at the South Island U19 Champs.
Golf New Zealand Academy member Cooper Moore, 16, won the Australian Junior Boys Amateur championship at Indooroopilly Golf Club in Brisbane.
Moore now joins the DP World Tour’s Daniel Hillier as the only pair to have won the Australian Junior Boys and New Zealand Amateur crown.
Gregg Thorpe, Golf New Zealand general manager, said: “It’s a great win for Cooper; it took a very special shot at a crucial time, which makes it all the more impressive."
The Year 12 student was then in dominant form at the South Island U19 Championship held at Coringa.
With rounds of 68, 71 and 67, he finished at 13 under par for the tournament, winning by 11 shots.
Mr Hikaka watched Cooper perform on the final day, and said: "It was awesome to follow Cooper for the back nine9 and watch him 'do his thing'. Some incredible shots and real class shown.
"For me, again it's his character that stands out just as much as his golfing ability."
