Centre of Enhancement - My Future Self

Ms Sullivan —

The next in the My Future Self series on Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 August.

Last term on Thursday 5 July, we held the first of three sessions in the 'My Future Self' series.  This began with the 'Inspire Breakfast' in the Dining Hall at 7.45am. It was a pleasant surprise to see all the Year 13's seated promptly on the dot, ready and waiting for the breakfast to begin. The breakfast connects Old Boys with current Year 13 students, offering their insight into career choices, life experiences as well, and what our Year 13’s should aspire to as they prepare to leave the college. The Old Boys presenting to the Year 13’s were relatively recent old boys having left the college in 2007. This made their experiences beyond the college all the more relatable and engaging for the Year 13’s. Liam Bartholomeusz – Bid Coordinator at Downer NZ, Reilly Price – Insurance Broker and Jason Morgan – Business Banker at ANZ, all had a very common thread with the words of wisdom they offered our students; the relationships you develop and the networks you create are critical to your direction, no matter what you do, whether it be university or collecting rubbish, do it to your absolute best as a good work ethic will get you a long way, and be open to opportunities.

This was followed by workshops with Zestpeople, offering insights into how personality has an influence on career paths and opportunities. We have had very positive feedback from students about both the Inspire Breakfast and the Zestpeople workshops

The St Bede's Old Boy's Association has very generously supported this initiative and for that we are very thankful.

The next session is being held over two days, with the session with Zestpeople next week on Wednesday 1 August, and will be covering the following:
