Expect Trains

KiwiRail

From 15 September trains will be running both day and night on the rail line and we are helping spread the safety message around the use of rail level crossings.

The rail line has been closed since the November earthquake and we need to make sure we have not become complacent around the railway.

Although we are not located next to the rail line, we are very close to it,  at some point we all use the rail crossing.

The safety messages are:

  • Always expect trains from either direction and at any time
  • If you are in a car, always slow down as you’re approaching a level crossing and be prepared to STOP
  • Look out for trains, and obey signs and signals
  • Stay off railway tracks. Only cross the railway at approved railway level crossing points.

Keep Christchurch Beautiful

Keep Christchurch Beautiful is running a clean up event as part of Keep NZ Beautiful Week, on Saturday, 16 Sept from 11am - 1pm. We'd love you to join us.

We will be meeting at the Chalice in Cathedral Square and working out from there in groups, 'walking, talking and picking up litter' to give our central city some love. Our Chair Alexandra Davids and her fellow Community Board/Councillor member Deon Swiggs made a cool video about the event - see below, and I've attached a flyer with the details.

Please contact me with any questions, and here's hoping you can join us!

Cotswold Preschool and Nursery

We are going to be turning 50 years old this year. If you attended our preschool or were involved with it in any way we would love you to come and help us celebrate this milestone. We will be having a celebration family day on Saturday, 16 September from 11am. Join us for some or all of this time. There will also be and exhibition of the children’s Art work from this year in our hall.

We are also looking for help from the Bishopdale community to find out our early history. Some of you will know our preschool as St Gregory’s Community Crèche. If anyone remembers attending our centre, has any old photos, stories or information regarding the centre we would be very interested to meet with you. Please get in touch with us as soon as possible by email cotswoldpreschool@xtra.co.nz , phone 03 3597675 or call in and see us at 37 Colesbury St.

Pegasus Fun Run

This is an fun run targeted at families in North Canterbury/ North Christchurch and a great event for the community to get behind. On Sunday, 10 October, not only is there the option of running 2.5, 6 or 11km’s, but also a day full of family activities, food vendors and a band.

Unlike other running events cost is not a barrier with pre-registration for adults only $15, kids $5 and under 5’s free.

We are really trying to get the local community behind this event as runs of this size are few and far between in North Canterbury.

See Attachment below.
