Christian Ioane —

Good morning/afternoon parents, students and family.

This term the Prefects have been teaching the students about our Marist values and what it means to be in a Marist school. Marist is a word we use a lot in our college, but a lot of the boys don’t know the meaning behind it. The word Marist is a combination of two words, MAR (the first three letters of Mary) and IST (the last three letters of Christ) - meaning Mary our mother and Christ our saviour. These two people are a huge part of our lives as Catholics and we should try our best to follow the values they stood for every day. As we carry on the term, we will continue to teach about Marist values and why our school is privileged to be Marist.

Last weekend I was honored to be invited to be a part of the St Bede’s College Old Boys’ Association Annual Dinner. I had a special role as the MC for the night, which I enjoyed, and the experience of being a part of such a special group of people. As a student still at St Bede's, I can see that we are privileged and honoured to have a strong community to join after our school days are over, and I appreciate the Old Boys’ Association and everything they do for us as students. Students don’t see everything they do behind the scenes, but we are grateful for them still helping us to this day on our journeys to become men. I look forward to being a part of this community from next year.

Best of luck to all the boys finishing off their winter sport and representing our school with such pride and honour.

Thank you to parents and family for a good start to the term, and I look forward to what is ahead.
