:BRIAN DUNNE

Congratulation to Brian for his outstanding service to St Bede’s College Sport. Brian has been involved in a numerous number of sports here at the College for his 37 years. School Sport New Zealand Executive Director Gary Carnachan, came to assembly yesterday to present Brian with a Service to School Sport Award. The boys showed their appreciation to Brian with a standing ovation which was very fitting.

RUGBY

A huge thank you to all the parents that billeted Champion College boys from England this week. Reports back from their management is that the boys thoroughly enjoyed their host families and they enjoyed relaxing at their billets house.

Champion 1st XV beat our 2nd XV 19 to 0 and our Under 16 A team has a great game beating their second team 25 to 3.

A big thank you again to host families.

BASKETBALL

Friday Night Basketball

I have had to deal with three complaints this week from other schools regarding our boys behaviour. Can parents who sit on the bench (every team should have one adult on the bench), please keep the boys in check and make sure they uphold the St Bede’s College values. Your assistance in this is very much appreciated.

MARLBOROUGH BOYS' COLLEGE EXCHANGE

Thanks you to those parents that have offered to take billets on Monday night for Marlborough Boys' College annual exchange, which is always very appreciated. I do need to find a few more beds for the Under 14 A Rugby team - offers for this would be really appreciated.

SPORTS FEES

As we are only a few weeks away from teams going to tournaments during Winter Tournament Week I would just like to remind all families that all sports fees must be paid up before your son can attend these tournaments. If you are paying by automatic payment, then you might like to make a one off payment to clear your son’s sports fees. Your assistance in this is very much appreciated.

HOCKEY

Well done to George Baker and Joe Morrison who have just been named in the NZ U18 Development Squad for Hockey NZ. We wish them all the very best and look forward to when the final team is named.

SMALLBORE SHOOTING

Congratulations to Christopher Hill who competed in the Andrew & Faulkner Shield Match in Oamaru for the Ashley Jnr team, along with old boy Sam Kershaw. Their team won the Junior competition.
