Canterbury Model European Union 2018

The National Centre for Research on Europe (NCRE) and European Union Centres Network (EUCN) at the University of Canterbury are pleased to let you know that in 2018 we will be holding a national Model European Union simulation event in Christchurch.

The event brings togther approximately 200 high school students (Years 9-13) over two days to model the decision and policy making procedure of the European Parliament. The event is open to all high school students in Years 9 to 13. The 2018 event will be held on Saturday, 5th and Sunday, 6th of May at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch and look at the current New Zealand - EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations encompassing sections on trade, security, human rights and animal welfare, among others. This is an excellent opportunity for students to meet peers from other schools, and have a look at the University itself.

Registrations open on 01 February 2018. Costs for the 2-day event are NZ$25 per student and include catering for Saturday (MT/lunch/AT and dinner) and Sunday (MT/lunch/AT). Scholarships and mobility support are available on application.
