Ben Tomlinson —

Welcome to the March edition of the old boys’ news. As term 1 of the school year comes to a close and we begin to feel the change in seasons, it is clear that the year is now well and truly underway.

March has been a busy month at the College. Earlier this month, I represented the Old Boys' Association at the Year 13 Careers Day and enjoyed speaking to students about my career path. It was great to see a wide range of representatives from different sectors, including several old boys, who generously gave an afternoon of their time to answer the boys’ career questions. As a key part of assisting with the transition out of school, the OBA is proud to financially support Careers Day.

If you are interested in supporting careers events in the future and have your business details shared with the wider old boys network, I encourage you to get in touch regarding the Old Boys' Business Directory - details of which are included within the newsletter. We are also building up our general OBA database, so if you know of any Bedeans that do not receive updates from the OBA, they may not be in our database. Please encourage them to get in touch.

There are plenty of other updates included within the newsletter, including the College's presence at the Wānaka show and Old Boys entered in the 2023 FMG Young Farmer of the Year.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the passing of AJ Whitaker, a recent old boy who this month passed away as a result of an accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with AJ's family at this difficult time.

Ngā mihi,

Ben Tomlinson
