Message from the Rector

The prospect of snow has been a topic of conversation for the last half of the week, as boys expectantly gaze out the windows in the hope of a day off!! No such luck and we end a busy second week of the term.

Tonight and tomorrow night are the Concert for a Life events and tickets are quickly going.  Connor McSweeney and Maui Brennan performed in assembly yesterday to advertise the concert.  We were treated by two outstanding musicians, and the concert promises to be an excellent night of  entertainment.

At assembly I reminded seniors about exams which are the week after next, and the need for them to clarify with their teachers what is to be examined, then to organise and revise the notes, so that the exercise of doing a practice exam has any use.  Revision is important if the practice exam is meaningful.

For many, winter sports competitions are winding down, but teams going to the winter tournament are in full organising mode. We reminded the boys to show their gratitude to the many volunteer coaches, teachers, parents, old boys and senior boys.

A regular visitor to schools is the Fire Service and they took the trouble to write to us expressing how impressed they were with the tidiness of our school campus which says much about our hard working grounds staff but also Mr Davidson’s example and expectations to remind our boys to respect their environment.

As I write, the clouds are building – will they bring snow?

Until next week

Justin Boyle
