This weeks update includes information regarding Southern Jam, the Widor Mass and further success for Jean-Luc Pitcaithly.

Another Student Success

Congratulations to Year 10 student Jean-Luc Pitcaithly who has successfully auditioned for the NZ Youth Brass Band. Jean-Luc will play 2nd Trumpet in the band which draws students from all over the country including three others from Christchurch. They will come together in the September holidays for one week at Burnham and will present a concert in the city.

Southern Jam next week

For the first time, St. Bede’s will be represented at the Southern Jam jazz festival in Blenheim next week. Over four days, the Jazz ensemble will present its competition programme to the judges as well as give small concerts at various cafes, pubs and schools in the area. The festival culminates on the Saturday with the formation of the “all-stars” student band made up from the best players on various instruments and a finale concert.

Widor Mass next Sunday

Members of the Senior Choir will again join the choir of the Pro-Cathedral on Sunday 14th August in the annual performance of Widor’s Mass. The students enjoy the challenge of the music as well as the opportunity to sing with others. All are welcome to Mass on the Sunday morning.
