The Community Office continues to expand to the growing needs of our community.

Our team is dedicated to nurturing a vibrant community through engaging communications and events that bring together Bedeans of all generations and stakeholder groups.

Over the past five years, our alumni engagement alone has tripled in terms of active communication, allowing us to offer a wider variety of events to a broader audience of old boys, both in Christchurch and beyond. Your feedback has played a crucial role in shaping our initiatives, so thank you—and please keep it coming!

Looking ahead, we are planning two significant events in 2025: the Boarding 100 celebration from April 4-6, celebrating our second century of boarding, and the Annual Dinner on August 9, commemorating 100 years since the first Old Boys’ dinner.

In addition to our alumni engagement efforts, we handle communications and marketing for the college, boarding, and international programs. We are also thrilled to announce the launch of our “Bedeans of the Future” campaign, aimed at raising funds for the SBC Foundation Endowment Fund and the construction of a new Science and Technology Precinct.

All this makes for a very busy community office, which leads me to introduce you to the newest member of the team. On September 30, we welcomed Sara Rennell as our Community Office Administrator. Sara will be in the office four days a week from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. With a background in the financial and community sectors, she brings valuable experience to our team. A Marian old girl herself, Sara is married to an old boy of St Bede’s from the early 2000's, and is also the mother of two energetic young boys.
