Students Interested In Pursuing Rugby Or Football After School

Katrina Kerr-Bell —

James Pendrigh will be visiting the College on Wednesday at 1pm to share a new pathway opportunity into Wollongong, Australia for girls who play football and rugby.

He will explain the pathway and Tottenham Hotspur Program at the University of Wollongong. This is a new opportunity for a different type of student graduating from high school in New Zealand with a different scope to the US university pathway - Kiwi's are also domestic students in Australia. The Spurs Football Program is exclusively through James and this pathway is potentially not for the most elite student-athlete, but more so an option for the student who is a tier down but still wants to pursue football at a high level, alongside completing an undergraduate degree, given they had an opportunity. This is not just for elite players!

James is a New Zealand and Australian Senior Consultant for Wagner & Woolf, so he is able to also discuss pathways into the US universities for the players too, but that is secondary.

The Spurs Program at the University of Wollongong is a pathway suitable for girls who might not be able to make the jump to the US or want to stay closer to home while still developing athletically and academically in a high-performance environment catered to their individual needs, rather than a team - It is more tailored to the individual development of the player rather than catering to a team environment.

The US university pathway is still an option after enrolling in the Program at Wollongong, as the students will keep themselves academically eligible for NCAA Sport and Wagner & Woolf can keep that pathway open to US universities, so it's not like they are shutting the door on that option and could potentially use UoW as a stepping stone.

Any parents are welcome to join in this session at 1pm on Wednesday 21st of July.
