Kai ora e te Whānau

Katrina Kerr-Bell —

Thank you for all of you that supported our Open Night. We had a great response from those visiting and we are very appreciative of all the support given by students, parents and our wider community.

A huge thank you to the PTA and the whānau that supported with hospitality.  We were so appreciative of the students who supported.  Over 30% of the students turned up to guide  and assist in the tours.  Our strength is our community of students and you as families.  Thank you!

 St Teresa of Avila

"Christ has no body now but mine,

He prays in me,

works in me,

looks through my eyes,

speaks through my words,

works through my hands,

walks with my feet and loves with my heart."

This reflection reminds me of my own responsibility living in our community.  Winter is a challenging time as the days get colder and the nights are longer.  Everything can seem that much harder.  We all can bring light and love to the lives of others, we can do this by being Christ for others and by growing a positive mindset.

Growing a positive mindset

If you daughter is finding this time challenging encourage them to focus on the positive.  Ask them what has gone well today?  What were you please/proud of?  What did you enjoy about your day?  What are you looking forward to? How can I help others and bring light to the lives of others?  St Catherine's students do this by getting involved in extra curricular activities, such as sport, learning an instrument, joining the choir or debating, coaching a team or joining one of the numerous clubs.

The questions we ask as adults can have a big impact on wellbeing, what we look for we find.  If we ask positive and search for the positive that is often what we can find.  "We find what we are looking for in life, her father had once said to her, which was true - if you look for happiness, you will see it; if you look for distrust and envy and hatred - all those things - you will find those too."  Alexander McCall Smith

Ngā Maioha

This Sunday is the dress rehearsal for Ngā Maioha (the combined Kapa Haka group).  We wish these students all the best of luck at the regional competition next Friday.  They have all worked so hard and the bracket is looking fantastic.  A huge thank you to all the whānau from St Catherine's, St Mary's and St Patrick's College that have supported these students.  A huge thank you also to our tutor Kurt Smith-Komene.
