Gratitude and L Plates

Katrina Kerr-Bell —

Many of the schools throughout the county have had difficulties with a culture of pranks from senior students.

I have had several people make comment to the L plates on my car.  I do feel they are appropriate for me as I begin my Principalship.  There have been many highlights and I am also grateful to those who have been vigilant for me, just as we are of the L plates on a car.  Last week it was really hard to say goodbye to the Year 13 students.  They have been so kind and generous, especially to me.  They have been wonderful Tuākana to their younger SCC sisters.

While all of my colleagues had the disappointment of some students making poor choices in the last week, ruining it for many of their peers, this was not our experience at St Catherine's.  The year 13 students left us with gifts, hugs, kind words, tears, sausages, ice blocks and a feeling we had shaped them into strong positive young women ready to take on the world.  I am grateful for their maturity and upholding the Mercy values.

Last Friday the Senior A Volleyball team played Wellington Girls and it was a tight fought game lasting close to three hours.  We were the victors in the end.  We wish the girls well for their last game of the season against St Mary's tonight.
