Life Skills Day for Year 13 Students

Mandy Page —

7th June

Tēnā koutou,

The Wellington Catholic Schools Kāhui Ako are planning a Life Skills Day for all year 13s from St Patrick’s College, St Mary’s College and St Catherine’s College on Wednesday the 7th of June, the aim of which is to help our young people prepare for life beyond secondary school, whether in the workforce, training or university education. This will include workshops around further education, mental health and wellbeing, and practical skills for the real world.

As part of this, we are looking for sponsorship to provide koha for our workshop presenters, kai for the students involved, and to make the event as exciting and engaging as possible (e.g. spot prizes). Any sponsors would be thanked and acknowledged in all materials presented at the event and in the advertisement about the event.

There are three key things our young people will get out of this day:

  • A sense of connection and community amongst our three Catholic secondary schools;

  • Workshops and sessions designed for them around important life skills and ways of dealing with the challenges life may throw at them;

  • An opportunity to listen to and ask questions of those who have been through the same journey our year 13s are on recently - or less recently.

If you have any connections who you believe would be willing to be approached around offering support or if you have something you can offer us, please get in touch at aimee.mcnaughton@stmw.school.nz.

Nāku noa, nā

Aimee McNaughton, on behalf of the Wellington Catholic Schools Kāhui Ako
