Katrina Kerr-Bell —

It is good to welcome staff and students back after the break.

Teacher Only Day

On Monday, the Teachers Only Day was an excellent opportunity for staff to work with our partner schools in the Kahui Ako St Patrick's College and St Mary's.

There were four areas staff had the opportunity to work collaboratively in Literacy Numeracy Localised Curriculum in Aotearoa New Zealand Histories. Julia Sharp, our Head of Science and Bryony Wood, our Head of Social Sciences, lead workshops around SCC's development in these areas. It was a valuable learning day for staff, who benefitted from working with others and sharing ideas.

O'Shea Shield

This is an exciting event in the Catholic Schools Calendar. This year it is being hosted in Wellington by St Mary's College. Students, staff and Alumnae have worked hard, primarily through the holidays, to prepare to compete in this prestigious event. We have a practice run-through of all our competitors on Friday afternoon from 3.30 - 6.30.  I encourage you to come to the O'Shea events if you can make it next weekend. You will see some extraordinarily talented and eloquent young people.

ANZAC Day

Khushi Patel and Bianca Blanch, Year 13 leaders, represented St Cath's at this morning's Citizens' Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Cenotaph. Our Head Students Ella Cessford and Maia Bouras also represented us at the National Commemoration at Pukeahu. There is a photo in the Anzac Article with Brigadier Rose King (Deputy Chief of Army) and Major Ben Harvey (Assistant Director NZ Defence Force)Year 11 No school - Thursday, 4th May.

Secondary Teachers' Pay Claim

Sadly, there has not yet been a resolution to the Secondary Teachers' pay claim, so disruption will likely be until this is resolved. We will update you weekly on the disruptions to ensure everything is clear. Although students will be rostered home as part of the protest, they will have work they can do at home, especially revising.

Kapa Haka

Ngā Maioha - rehearsals are underway for the combined St Catherine's, St Mary's and St Patrick's kapa haka group.  There is a whānau meeting tonight to update where they are at.  These staff and students have worked hard the last few weeks and through the holidays.
