Our school is committed to ensuring that our students get the very best education. As part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our students when they are online, we are using Linewize services to fulfil our obligation to protect school IT, including school-owned devices and Google accounts. What does that mean?:

School-Issued Google Accounts – 24/7 filtering

Schools have a duty of care obligation to protect school IT. This includes school-owned IT and school-issued Google accounts. The school will deploy Linewize software to all school-issued Google accounts. The software will activate only when students are logged into a Chromebooks with their school-issued Google account (ie. it will NOT load in personal Google accounts or on phones and tablets). Therefore, in alignment with school policy, the school's online safety filtering will be applied for the protection of school-owned devices and school-issued Google accounts only when used on Chromebook. It does not matter which network children are using to access the internet, Linewize will always monitor their activity and filter harmful content when they use their school-issued Google account, 24/7 on Chromebooks. On BYOD, if the device is shared at home or families do not wish for their child to be filtered or monitored outside of school hours, it is recommended to sign out of the school account and sign into the device using a personal Google account or in 'Guest Mode'. This will prevent the school's filtering from being applied to a Chromebook when being used for personal reasons.

By partnering with Linewize by Family Zone, we are striving to ensure all students are as safe as possible when they are online, whatever they are doing and wherever they are. The use of VPN's is not permitted at school. (VPN's are used to bypass our school filtering system, they are not secure, making them vulnerable to others accessing them or their details).

If personal devices are shared within the family/whanau, the student account should be signed out to avoid filtering after school hours.
