Open Day/Evening - Thank You!

Katrina Kerr-Bell —

Thank you to the PTA, the student guides and our Whānau for the support of our Open Day.

We had a great turnout at our Open Day.  We ran two sessions to try to keep the numbers smaller and we were delighted with how well the day went.  We are so grateful to all of our families for sharing the great things happening at St Catherine's.  If you have any suggestions on how we could improve, please let us know.  If anyone was not able to attend please encourage them to make contact and we can make a time to give them a tour.

On Tuesday evening we had the Pasifika Asosi Parent meeting.  Parents shared what their hopes and goals were for the daughters at SCC.  One theme stuck with me,  "we want our daughters to be who they are at home at school, we want them to be proud of who they are and their behaviour of respect and pride to be consistent."  I have reflected on this and if this is part of our success, the partnership our students understand between home and school, and the importance of being authentic, is being true to ourselves.

Last Sunday was Pentecost, which is the birthday of the Church.  At Pentecost, through the power of the Holy Spirit, the friends of Jesus had the courage to go out and proclaim the Gospel.

John 7:37-39 37 Jesus stood up and exclaimed, “Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink. 38 As Scripture says: Rivers of living water will flow from within him who believes in me.” 39 He said this in reference to the Spirit that those who came to believe in him were to receive. There was, of course, no Spirit yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

We pray that we allow the Spirit to work through us, that we have the courage to use the gifts we have to be people of Mercy.
