Katrina Kerr-Bell —

On Sunday 22 May, Luna passed her grading exam to get her black belt in Shaolin Kung Fu! The exam was about 2 hours long and included form work, paired work, board breaking, and sparring.

Luna started taking Kung Fu classes in June 2014, when she was 6 years old. It has taken her 8 years to pass 9 different grading exams, to finally get her black belt. It is a massive achievement!

She trains 2x per week (Mon & Fri) at Newtown Shaolin Kung Fu (https://shaolinnpc.co.nz/locations/newtown/) at Newtown School Hall, and Harrison Smith is her instructor.

We are very proud of Luna, and can see she is proud of herself too. She has gained a lot from Kung Fu, including self-confidence and fitness. We wanted to share her achievement with the school. There is one photo of her during the grading exam doing some paired work, one of her black belt, and one of her with her instructor, Harrison, after getting her black belt.
