This email is to let you know about an upcoming full-weekend closure of State Highway 58 which may affect your students and their families involved in weekend sports or activities over the coming weekend of Friday 28 April to Monday 1 May.The closure is to enable the SH58 Safety Improvements project to complete road reconstruction work.

The road will close for the entire weekend from 8pm on Friday night to 4am on Monday morning. The closure is planned for the weekend of 28 April to 1 May, but may be postponed if wet weather is forecast.

Traffic will detour via Ngauranga Interchange, meaning higher than normal traffic across SH1 and SH2. People travelling anywhere around the state highway network may experience delays at busy times as a result.

We are asking all road users to allow extra time for their journeys, and those travelling between the Hutt Valley and Porirua to plan ahead for the detour.
