"You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever." Psalm 30: 11-12

The 45th Tu Tanaga Polynesian Festival was held on Friday night. Tu Tangata is about young people being able to express their Pasifika culture. The St Catherine's students have worked hard over months of a rigorous training schedule, and I congratulate them on their commitment, engagement, and desire to perform. It takes courage to perform in front of such a large crowd. And required many of our students to step outside their comfort zone. I want to thank the parents, families and staff for all the support in helping these students perform. With the significant contribution of these wonderful people, we witnessed a high level of performance. The St Catherine's students have been dedicated and focused; they shone last Friday.

Tu Tangata festival's significance is multifaceted. It develops and fosters student leadership. The festival was led and facilitated by a volunteer committee that included two of our Pasifika student leaders. The Year 13 leaders choreographed the performance. The road to leadership in whatever area our students pursue comes down to education and knowing who they are and where they come from.
