A meeting will be held on Tuesday 28th of February at St Mary's College Staffroom.  This meeting is for all students and whānau interested in supporting or joining this group.

This note aims to update you on Kapa Haka in our three Colleges in 2023. As you might be aware, we have advertised for a new tutor in October 2022 and this year. The current advert expires on Friday, 24 February. Currently, we have not had any applications. Please reach out to anybody you might know who would be keen to do this.

Progress to date

  • In Term 3 of last year, an advertisement seeking a kapa haka tutor was uploaded to the three college Facebook pages. Communication via college newsletters and whanau roopu.

  • During Terrms 3 and 4 last year contact was made with specific parents from each of the three colleges who were involved with kapa haka previously if they had any contacts or persons of interest we could tap into.

  • Unfortunately, we received no applicants.

  • We have been given a couple of leads by people in our communities however, these have been unsuccessful in finding anyone interested.

  • On February 10 2023, the three colleges readvertised and currently have received no applicants.

  • One of the principals has reached out to the Māori department at Victoria University. They advised that they would publish the advert to their network.
