Upcoming Rongotai Road/Troy Street Roadworks

Joanne Robinson —

Fulton Hogan have been in touch to let us know about the upcoming road repairs that will be happening in the near future.  The works will include advise resurfacing work on Rongotai Road and Troy Street. There are various sections are in a bad state of repair and this is due to a combination of water leaks [which were fixed with the recent work in the Rongotai Rd/Onepu Rd/Kilbirnie Cres/Evans Bay Pde intersection] and general wear and tear.

They plan to start on the eastbound carriageway of Rongotai Road heading towards Miramar. We will follow the normal traffic flow, so will begin at the Tacy Street intersection and work our way towards Troy Street. During this time, Rongotai Road eastbound will be closed to all but residents. That being said, we can’t allow any vehicles through our work site as we are digging to depths of 200mm in some sections. It wouldn’t be safe or sensible to let vehicles through that drop. Access will be limited to the slip lanes or from the western end of Rongotai Road through any completed areas. Work hours will be between 9am-4pm.

Traffic will be diverted via Onepu Road and Coutts Street for this first section, then via Kemp Street once we’ve moved past the Tacy Street intersection. In total, this will hopefully take us 8 shifts, then another 2 for some areas on Troy Street, which will be managed by lane closures.

Once the eastbound carriageway is completed, we will switch to the westbound carriageway. With much less options for detour routes, we will be completing these sections at night. Troy Street from the State Highway to the Salek Street intersection will be closed for 2 nights with traffic diverted via SH1/Cobham Drive and Evans Bay Parade. Salek Street will be restricted to resident access only, when required.

The last section will be in the westbound carriageway approaching the Rongotai Rd/Onepu Rd/Kilbirnie Cres/Evans Bay Pde intersection from Mahora Street. There will be no access allowed through this area, so traffic will be diverted via Ross Street and Coutts Street. This should take 3 shifts. Exact times for the night shift work are yet to be finalised, but it is likely to be between 7pm-5am.

Attached is  the letter that will be distributed to residents in the coming days.
