Junior Music Concert
We held the Junior concert in the music room on Thursday evening. The talents of the year nine and ten girls were warmly appreciated by an enthusiastic group of friends and family. The music was a joy to hear, and though a few nerves were evident the performers rose to new heights of expressiveness which delighted us all.
Performing on the piano were Kelsey Bloomberg, Shreya Sharma, Alice Ormandy, Laureigh Tuitama, Ceanne Tolentino and Xanthe Dickie. The performers were accompanied in duets by their teacher Kris Zuelicke. Following on the violin were Ishita Patel, with Kelsey and Laureigh giving their second performances, with accompaniment from their teacher, Heather Miller.
Next up were the pop duo of Bella McIntyre and Mela Diamantis who wowed the audience with their version of Linger by the Cranberries.
Mercy Sola, Alice, Bella and Mela represented the year nine class in a great rendition of The Old Town Road, a popular song by Lil Nas X.
Next up we heard a Christmas carol by Maki Inuzuka and Mashiro Katsuura. They played a spirited version of Jingle Bells arranged for guitar duo.
To round the evening off the Year Ten Guitar Ensemble performed two tunes; the sixteenth century Bransle de Champagne by Claude Gervaise and Silent Night which the audience joined in singing for a very touching finale.
The staff at St Catherines would like to express their thanks to the itinerant teachers who enable our akonga to attain fulfillment through music, and our gratitude to the friends and family who support and encourage us all.
Nga mihi nui.
