THE LAUNCH OF WHĀNAU MERCY MINISTRIES THIS SATURDAY

Ngā Whaea Atawhai o Aotearoa Sisters of Mercy New Zealand extends an invitation to join them in celebrating the launch of Whānau Mercy Ministries this Saturday.

Details: Saturday, 25 March, 11 am.

Cathedral of St Patrick and St Joseph, Wyndham St, Auckland.

Celebrant: Bishop Steve Lowe

Whānau Mercy Ministries is a new civil and canonical entity beginning on 1 April. This Saturday we will gather with the Sisters of Mercy, Bishop Steve Lowe, the new Trustees of Whānau Mercy Ministries, special guests and representatives from our incorporated ministries around Aotearoa, New Zealand. Whānau Mercy Ministries is a new Ministerial Public Juridic Person (MPJP), the first for Aotearoa, New Zealand. The new canonical entity approved by the Holy See is also a legal trust. It will own and oversee the incorporated ministries established by the Sisters of Mercy over the past century and a half.

The process of welcoming lay women and men to this Church leadership role has been evolving, as sisters have discerned the need for new energy and expertise to sustain these works of mercy and carry into the future. These ministries are in healthcare, education, community development and affordable housing. The first trustees for Whānau Mercy Ministries will be introduced at the launch. All are welcome to the Eucharistic celebration.
