2022 NCEA RESULTS

We are very proud of the academic results achieved by our students. NZQA data shows that St Catherine's College students consistently perform above the national average for all New Zealand schools, including other girls' schools. Despite the challenges of the last few years, students have achieved similar or higher levels than in previous years.

In 2022 our achievement rates for

  • Level 1, 97.6%
  • Level 2 86.0%
  • Level 3 86.0%

Over 31% of students achieved their respective qualifications at each level with an Excellence Endorsement.

Our Māori and Pasifika achievement is also very high

Pasifika

  • Level 1, 100%    60% with an Excellence or Merit Endorsement
  • Level 2 90%      16% with an Excellence or Merit Endorsement
  • Level 3 100%     22% With an Excellence Endorsement

Māori

  • Level 2 66.7%        49%With an Excellence or Merit Endorsement
  • Level 3 100%

The graphs below are generated by NZQA at the beginning of February and show St Catherine's academic results (blue) compared with the national rates (red) and the 6-8 Schools Band (green).

This is not just applicable to 2022; this academic achievement level is consistent, as illustrated in the graphs.

In 2022 we received an Academic Scholarship in Drama.

These outstanding academic results reflect the continuing high standards of our students and staff. Teachers and Deans know each student, their whānau, their cultural identity, and their story and work with them to achieve their goals. Achieving is part of St Catherine's culture.

Students are guided and supported to perform to their potential. Our small class numbers are an advantage to students and staff, who enjoy close working relationships with their students. Achieving is about more than success at the Scholarship level. It is about students stretching and challenging themselves to perform to their full potential. It is about striving to bring to life the College's core values.

  • Te Tapu o Te Tangata - Respect
  • Te aroha - Compassion
  • Te awhinatanga - Service
  • Tika - Justice
  • Te aroha kite rawakore - Concern for poor and vulnerable
  • Te manaakitanga - Hospitality

St Catherine’s College is about excellence in more than academic results. We aim for students to leave the College as 21st-century, Women of Mercy. This can be seen in contributions to the community, service, leadership and participation in various activities.
