St Francis of Assisi Feast Day

Louise MacKay —

The feast of our patron saint, St Francis of Assisi is celebrated in the Catholic Church on October 4th.

Full School Mass St Mary's

As this date falls in the school holidays we will be celebrating this very special day with a school Mass at St Mary’s Pro Cathedral on Tuesday 10th October at 9.30am. Parents are welcome to attend this Mass. Children will travel to and from Mass by bus.

Shared Morning Tea

When we return to school we will be having a shared morning tea where we ask children to bring a small plate of food to share, we would love this to be a food item from their culture. Each hub will be hosting their own separate morning tea and parents are welcome to join us.

Full School Uniform Required

Children are required to wear uniform to Mass and are asked to bring their sports uniform in their bag to change into for our fun activities that will follow the morning tea.

St Francis of Assisi

We feel very fortunate to have such an amazing Patron Saint at the heart of the charism of our school.

St. Francis of Assisi, born in 1181 or 1182 in Assisi, Italy, is one of the most venerated and admired saints in Christian history. His life story is one of unwavering devotion to God and all of creation.

St. Francis is renowned for his deep love and compassion for animals and the environment. He saw all of God's creatures as part of a harmonious creation, referring to them as his brothers and sisters. His famous prayer, "Make me an instrument of your peace," reflects his commitment to promoting peace, love, and care for all living beings.

St. Francis is also known for his humility and simplicity. He embraced a life of poverty, choosing to live among the poor and serve those in need. His humility and devotion to Christ inspired the founding of the Franciscan Order, which continues to serve as a beacon of compassion and service in the world.
