Jo Earl —

We have had a lot going on the last couple of weeks - special congratulations to Maire! Read on to see where she is headed in 2023.

Congratulations Maire!

We are delighted (and somewhat sad) to announce that Maire Bowler, Deputy Principal, has been appointed to the Principal position at Hornby Primary School to start in 2023.

Congratulations Maire - this is so well deserved. The Hornby Primary school community are gaining a very precious taonga - you go with our blessing, even though we will be very sad to see you leave us at the end of this year.

Board Elections

You will have all received an email with BOT election voting information. If you have missed it - do a search for this email address iro@electionz.com

Voting needs to be completed by September 7. Have your say!

No More Lollies

We have noticed there has been a huge increase in numbers of children bringing lollies/lollypops in to share with others in the Hub to celebrate their birthdays.

There are also a number of students with allergies, intolerances and rules around food so we are now asking that you no longer send food/ lollies for your child to share with others.

Carb Snacks

We welcome children bring an extra snack to eat between 9am and 9.30am if they want to, please ensure this is a bread snack eg sandwich. Please refer to the article in the newsletter about carb snacks which provides more information about why this was introduced in 2017.

Progress graphs

We are currently working on and making changes to the Maths progressions. While we are working on this we have turned the progress graphs off. We will let you know when we have turned them back on. Thanks for your patience.

Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO)

We had a fabulous visit from the CSO on Wednesday - our whole school was able to enjoy this session - photos on facebook. It was definitely a lot of fun with some learning on the side!
