Update from the team

Staff —

We have been in our new normal for just over a week. Our teachers are at home in their own spaces preparing for Distance Learning which will start on Wednesday 15 April.

What we want you to know:

- We are not trying to recreate "a day at school" - we know that that is not possible and it also not necessary. There will however be a suggested structure. It will help to set some routines with your children.

- There is huge value in what you are already doing with your children. e.g the whānau tasks are great family activities with low stress, student blog hop, outdoor activities, craft, spending time together ...

- We want to provide access to learning opportunities for your children however we also know that they are still learning when they are doing activities with you e.g. baking, biking, and therefore there will always be an element of choice and it is ok to have days where you don't access the hub sites.

-  this is new for all of us and there will be glitches - we will have a team of staff available to answer questions.

- We are going to provide "live" meetups where the teachers will be online to facilitate learning for the students. These will be advertised in advance and are a great way for your child to keep a connection with his/her teacher.

- Our Year 5-8 students are used to accessing learning from the Hub sites and therefore this should not be new to them.

- Our Year 1-4 students will initially need a little more support from you.

- There will be videos posted of how to access the learning and staff will be available at certain times to have video calls to help if you are having trouble.
