Caritas Lenten Appeal / Green Hat Day

Rebecca Methven —

As part of almsgiving during Lent, St Francis donates money to Caritas. Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand is the NZ Catholic Bishops’ agency for justice, peace and development. Caritas works on behalf of the New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference for a world free of poverty and injustice through community development, advocacy, education, and emergency relief.

This year we have decided to hold a Green Hat day on Wednesday 17th March ( St Patrick's Feast Day). Children can wear a green hat or head accessory for the day. As Tumu and Kaupeka students have Reconciliation that day, they will need to be able to take their green accessory off for this and can put it back on afterwards.

This will be a free 'mufti event'. We have had so far, a great response to our Easter Egg raffle and will make a donation to Caritas using some of the proceeds from the raffle.
