Level 4 Update #2

Jo Earl —

18th August 2021

Kia ora koutou

Thanks for your patience while we get Distance Learning systems back up and running. Staff met this morning to talk through next steps - we are all in good heart and I am very confident that should we need to roll out Distance Learning on Monday - the programmes will be top quality!

Communication During Level 4

We will be using the community feed in Hero to send out all communication to you while we are in Alert Level 4. We will also post all whole school communication on our website under Quick Links/ Latest Updates.

All teachers emails are on the website and our school phone 03 595 0730 has been diverted and will be answered by Bev Sutherland should you need to make contact for any reason.

Distance Learning

All Hub sites can be found on this link. All of our students will be able to access learning online.

If the Lockdown is extended past the planned three days we will roll out the Distance Learning Timetable on Monday. We will send out more information about this closer to the time.

We are aware that we have new families that were not with us during the last lockdown and that this is a leap into the unknown for you. We will provide with all the information you need to access the learning for your children closer to the time, and a time to meet with us virtually to talk through any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or questions before then.

More information will be sent out on Friday 20 August.

Chromebook Allocation

We have a limited amount of Chromebooks that we are willing to loan if the school is physically closed for any longer than the planned three days.

We will prioritise giving students from Years 3-8 devices, as these students will require access to a device to complete some of their online distance learning.

If we have Kākano whānau, who do not have any access to a device at home we would like to support you if we can - please indicate this on the form below.

Please remember students can access their Google Drive from any device that you have at home that has access to the internet, so you will only need to borrow a Chromebook if you have no other devices available for them.

There is an agreement that will need to be signed about the use and care of the device. It must only be used for home learning. Chromebooks are not designed as gaming devices. The expectation therefore would be that they are not used in this way.

Please complete this Google Form if you would like to borrow a Chromebook. Once we have an idea of whether this lockdown will be extended we will let you know whether there will be a pick up time at school or if we need to have them delivered.
