Road Safety, Uniforms & the Long Weekend...
With the opening of both Marian College and Pak n Save there has been a noticeable increase in the traffic down Vagues Rd.
The amount of traffic using Vagues Rd has at least doubled in the last six months and crossing the road to and from school can be hazardous at times. There are a number of things that you can do as caregivers to help minimise the risks:
- Please observe the speed limits and be vigilant while driving past the school.
- Avoid doing u-turns in front of the school at peak times of the day. There have been a number of near misses over the past few weeks as the sight lines are not clear when there is a lot of traffic.
- Do not park on the yellow lines. This blocks the view of the Road Safety Team helping the children cross the road at the beginning and end of the day.
- Park further away and walk the last part of your journey to school. There is parking in the Parish Carpark and a small number of parks on the road. Do not park in the staff carpark. The spare car parks are for families that have either a mobility sticker or a special pass issued by the school.
- Keep the emergency vehicle access clear at all times. These spaces have signage displayed, please observe this request.
- The parking area on the road outside the school hall is a 3 minute 'drop & go' area. Three minutes is only enough time to pull into the park, have your children exit the car and then drive off. When entering this area please pull forward as far as you can to allow others to pull in behind you. If you park in this space and leave your car you will be asked to move.
- If you are late to school and the Road Safety Team have finished their patrol please ensure your child is safely across the road before you leave. Do not leave them to cross the road on their own.
Uniforms
Please name all your child's uniform items. There are a large number of jerseys and jackets in the Lost Property. We cannot return clothing to students when it not named. Can you also check that your child is wearing their own clothing and not another students. A number of named jackets have gone missing this week and are probably being worn by another student.
Long Weekend
Tomorrow is a Teacher Only Day and the school is closed to all students. If you need childcare for tomorrow, Kelly Club in the school hall will be open. You do need to book this service. Monday we observe the King's Birthday and school is also closed. We hope that you all enjoy your long weekend and return safely to school on Tuesday.
