Road Safety

Aaron Richards —

By working together we can ensure our children are safe travelling to and from school.

The school operates Road Patrol outside the school gate from 8.30am to 9.50am each morning and again from 3.00pm to 3.15pm each afternoon.

As our teachers are busy preparing for the day we relay on the generous support of parents and caregivers to supervise Road Patrol in the morning. We need your help! If you are able to supervise the Road Patrol team one morning a week or fortnight, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for supervisors for the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. If you can help please contact Mrs Beattie - liz.beattie@stjopapa.school.nz

Parking and traffic around the school is an issue at pick-up and drop-off times. It is the same at every large school around the country. There is nothing that schools can do about the situation but rely on the co-operation of parents to manage the issue. So I urge you to be considerate of others:

  • Please do not park in the Foodstuffs or Verkerks car parks.
  • Please do not park over someone's driveway.
  • Please do not park in someone's private laneway.
  • Please do not park on the yellow lines because it obstructs the view of the Road Patrol.
  • Please adhere to the 3-minute parking outside the school so that more parents can swing in to drop-off or pick-up their children.
