Extra-Curricula

St Joseph's School - February 2, 2021

St Joseph's School Papanui facilitates a range of extra-curricula activities that are offered in addition to the curriculum to enrich students learning.

Extra-curricular activities are delivered by external organisations or individuals. The school has vetted these organisations and individuals to ensure students are safe and the activity provides value for money. St Joseph's School provides the space for the activity free of charge.

As the activities are in addition to the school's curriculum programme, parents are required to pay the organisation or individual directly if their child enrols in the lessons. There is no compulsion for students to enrol in the extra-curricula activity.

Global Youth Ambassador Project Overview weibing qu

St Joseph's School Papanui is a member of the Global Youth Ambassadors Programme. This is an international education programme where schools in Christchurch have formed a partnership with schools in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The programme provides an opportunity for students from Christchurch and Wuhan to travel to each other's cities to collaborate with students from other cultures. The objective is to promote the idea of being a global citizen.

Applications for the programme are called for in Term 1 each year. Christchurch students travel to Wuhan in the July holidays. Students from Wuhan travel to Christchurch in either Term 3 or 4. The programme is limited to students in Years 7–8. The students are accompanied by teachers from St Joseph's School.
