Aaron Richards —

This week's article includes news of staff graduation, a congratulations to the learners who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last week, thoughts and prayers to staff members who have lost loved ones as well as a reminder about student-led conferences next week.

Congratulations - It is my pleasure to announce that the following teachers from St Joseph's School have graduated from Te Ahu o te Rep Māori Level 1: Alice Johns, Greg Brown, Anna Alfano, Sarah Philpott and Gerardine Baxter. A special congratulations to Melissa Clease who has graduated from Level 4 of the course.

Sacrament of Confirmation - I would like to congratulate the Year 8 learners from St Joseph's School, Papanui who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Sunday. It was wonderful watching our young men and women presenting themselves to the Bishop and confirming themselves to the Catholic Faith. A huge WELL DONE to the individuals who took on a role during the Mass. They presented themselves with confidence and dignity.

Thoughts and Prayers - Our thoughts and prayers go out to two staff members who have lost family. the father of Mrs Easdown, our Administration Manager passed away on Tuesday. Mrs Easdown is now travelling back to England to be with her family during this sad time. Mr Cameron also received news on Thursday that his grandfather had passed away. Our sympathy goes out to these staff members during this sad time. Our Administration Manager, Mrs Easdown plays a vital role in the smooth operation of the school. We seek parent's cooperation and patience as we try to cover for her while she is away.

Student-Led Conferences - A final reminder that student-led conferences take place next week. The school will be closing at the earlier time of 2.00 pm on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th of June.

Student-led conferences have been operating at St Joseph's School for approximately 15 years. It is the method used by most primary schools in New Zealand to celebrate students learning and progress. For more information about student-led conferences, please click on this link.
