Filipino Cultural Group

Melissa Clease —

There will be a Filipino Cultural Group at St Joseph's School again this year.

Last year Pauline Fojas and Melissa Clease started up a Filipino Cultural Group at school. About 40 students came to this group, and did an amazing job of learning dances and songs to perform at school events. This group ran the Philippines Independence Day Liturgy at school, performed at Grandparents' Day and had an end of year Christmas Celebration with a feast of singing, dancing and food! It was lots of fun and it was an awesome way to foster a love of the Filipino culture.

This term the group will be meeting on Monday, in the parish centre, 3-3.45pm and all students at St Joseph's School are welcome to join. Parents are also very welcome to come and assist with the dancing and singing. Children in years 1-4 will be escorted to the parish centre after school by Mrs Clease and older siblings, while students in years 5-8 will make their own way there.

The first practise will be in week 4 - Monday 19 February. We will begin learning some new items for the Philippines Independence Day on June 12th.
