Kapahaka

St Joseph's School —

This year, all students from years 1 - 8 will experience the fun of Kapahaka. Our tutors, Whaea Tania and Matua Willie, will be working with each syndicate throughout the year, providing a 45 minute weekly session based on games, waiata, haka and poi.

In addition to this, all students from years 5 - 8 have been given the opportunity of being a part of our School Representative Kapahaka Group. This is a fabulous opportunity for our tamariki to hone in on a range of skills and enjoy a more comprehensive programme that not only focuses on performance skills, but on the Culture and Heritage of our country. This year, our main performance will be at the Christchurch Primary School's Cultural Festival. Other performance opportunities will be at a local school and community levels.

On this page, our kapahaka students can click on a video and practise their waiata.
