Drop-off and pickup procedures at St Joseph's School

Aaron Richards —

St Joseph's School Papanui has drop-off and pickup procedures in place to keep children safe and maximise learning.

Morning drop off  - We can not guarantee that staff are onsite before 8:15 am. Therefore it is unsafe for children to enter the site unsupervised early in the morning. Children and parents may enter after 8:15 am and assemble in the front courtyard. As teachers are busy preparing for the day, please do not enter the main area of the school until the 8:30 am bell is sounded. Parents are free to enter the classroom until the 8:55 am bell is rung. This indicates that the class will start. We ask parents to move to the front courtyard at this time.

Afternoon pickup - Parents and caregivers may enter the school and assemble in thr front court yard before 3:00 pm. Please do not move through to the main part of the school until the 3:00pm bell is sounded. This ensures that activities happening in the main part of the school can continue uninterrupted. It also means we can keep children safe until the end of school. Once classes have finished, parents and caregivers are welcome to enter the classrooms and talk to the teachers.

A bell will sound at 3.15pm. We ask that families leave the school grounds at this time. This ensures that teachers can attend their afternoon meetings. We also have a number of sport groups that use the school facilities after school so the space needs to be kept clear for these groups to operate.

After School Care - We understand that some families struggle with before and after school care. Luckily St Joseph's school has an out of school programme that runs out of the school hall. Kelly Club is an accredited before and after school provider who operates in many schools throughout the country.
