Principal's Message
As the term comes to an end it is important that we celebrate the successes from the term. Students have participated in a wide level of events and succeeded to high levels. The Rippa Tournament, the Year 7/8 basketball teams, the SC Cross Country. Students have worked hard to reduce the amount of waste in lunch boxes and around the school grounds. Students finding solutions to problems in our Temuka township. 25 students and whanau from our school have been through the baptism programme and are going to have their first sacramental celebration this year. Teachers have completed a Religious Education paper and have had ongoing professional development on new maths teaching practices and theory behind it. Our teacher aides have ongoing professional learning around student agency and how to best meet their needs. Mrs Miller has become an Oma for the first time. The amazing parent support we have for all activities in the school, transportation, coaching teams, road patrol, fruit, etc. These are all reason that we need to celebrate.
As I walk around the school it is so lovely to see the respect and enthusiasm our students show with their learning and to those around them. It is inspiring to see our senior students being such amazing mentors and buddies for our Room 6 students. It is pleasing to see self-managing students at play enjoying their environment.
I want to take this opportunity to wish you all
a very happy holiday. Enjoy your time with
your child/children making memories.
This term the focus has been on finding solutions for problems around our school and community. Students have worked hard to find solutions for them. On Thursday there will be a Dragons Den where senior students will pitch their solutions to a panel made up of Paddy O’Reilly, Bernie Leonard and myself. Junior students are eager to share their learning with their peers on Thursday morning.
On Thursday night we have a celebration of student learning in Room 4, 5, 6 & 7 from 5:00 – 6:00pm. Students are asked to share their learning with their families. The Dragons Den prizes will be given out on the night.
