Year 5&6 Camp
On Wednesday last week the Year 5 and 6's set off for Living Springs Camp in Governors Bay. Governors Bay near Lyttelton Harbour.
The first thing that we had to do was the walk in. It took over an hour and the last part was a really big uphill climb. It got hot and we were all tired by the end.
Once we sorted out of cabins and all of our gear we headed off to do our first activity which was initiatives. We had to use team work and figure out how to solve problems and activities. Lots of people loved initiatives.
On the first day we also used the monorail, which is like a mini roller coaster, but you have to carry the heavy seats up a hill. We also played soccer and went on the big swing where we did the death drop - a scary move where the rope hooks onto part of the tree then drops off,
On the second day we did the adventure stream, archery and air rifles, swimming and had some recreation activities again. My favourite was the adventure stream. It was a hot day and we were able to get dunked in the water at the end. The abseiling parts were a bit hard and scary for some people. Others really loved the air rifles and archery.
On the last day we did the Burma Trail. We had to follow a rope course up a hill through bushes and trees but we were all blindfolded. Mrs Swete played tricks on us like tickling us with leaves and blowing on our faces and necks to try and give us a fright but it just made us giggle.
Living Springs was the best camp we’ve ever been to!
