Principal's Message
Welcome back to an entertaining term! This term students will focus on learning to entertain. They will be looking what qualities we need to be an entertainer, how we use our voice, song, dance and actions. What makes a good entertainer?
Recently we walked down to the Temuka rugby grounds to be entertained by the Canterbury and Otago RFU warm-up game. While we were there, we focused on all the jobs different people had and how each job was important for the end product. We were able to compare that to what we are trying to create with our musical production. It was such a lovely opportunity to give students that had never experienced a rugby game the opportunity to do so.
Students and teachers will be collaborating to write the production, bringing to life our problem solving from term two in an entertaining and informative production. In week 10 we will have a matinee and two night-time performances. Tickets will be on sale later in the term.
Our Friends of St Joseph’s committee have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to organise the Op Shop Shindig that is being held on the 18th September in the St Josephs Hall. This is a major fundraiser for the school and all pupils will benefit from the money raised. In the past money has been spent on computers, UE Booms, buses for trips, Decodable texts, maths equipment etc for classroom use. Offers of help with food preparation, hall decorating or clean up would be greatly appreciated. If you are able to contribute, please talk to Aimee Baird or Jess Hanifin who are co-ordinating this event or leave your name with the office and we will pass it on.
