Interested in becoming a Catholic
Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Opihi Parish of Mary Mackillop is running a RCIA (Right of Christian Initiation of Adults) this year.
If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or becoming a Catholic, then these sessions may be what you are looking for.
The RCIA program is open to all adults, even those who are already Catholic but who may be seeking an update about their faith or who just want to learn more as they continue their journey of faith.
RCIA is for those who have never been baptised and who seek to join the Catholic Community. These men and women are called "Catechumens."
RCIA is for those who have been baptised in another Christian faith but are seeking to join the Catholic Church. These men and women are called "Candidates."
RCIA is for those who have been baptised in the Catholic faith but who have never been fully initiated, through the Sacraments of Eucharist/Confirmation. These are also called "Candidates."
As part of the programme there are Catholic adults who serve as sponsors for the catechumens and candidates. These people have a very important role in helping to nurture and introduce the catechumens and candidates to the Church community by providing support, example, and prayer.
If this is something that you would be interested in, please ring Father Jolly 0220656068 or the Parish Office 6157527 and speak to Cathy about joining this programme.
